With opportunities to strengthening his/her application for orthopaedic residency, to expose the fellow to academic orthopedics, and to teach research skills that can be used to foster an academic career. The fellow will be directly involved in all facets of the research process including, development of study questions, literature review, study design, IRB approvals, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, writing of manuscripts, and preparation of presentations. Our previous fellows have been very productive and receive funding to attend national and international meetings to present their research. The Shoulder and Elbow division is comprised of eleven fellowship-trained, academically motivated surgeons. Fellows will spend substantial time in both the outpatient clinic and operating room setting. Fellows additionally have the opportunity to attend weekly didactic conferences and to interact routinely with residents and clinical fellows. The position is funded.

Research Duties:

  • Prepare manuscripts, textbook chapters, posters, presentations, and educational videos
  • Participate in research meeting, seminars, journal clubs, symposia, and professional society meetings
  • Manage and mentor student researchers
  • Provide research study education to participants as part of a study protocol
  • Develop research studies and designs
  • Compose research protocols, IRB documents and proposals
  • Collecting, organizing and analyzing collected clinical data
