Journey Church International has existed to see people far from God become passionate Christians who make a difference in the world. In January 2011, led by Pastor Christian Newsome and his wife Danielle, a group of 20 adults began meeting in a living room in south Lee’s Summit. On September 18, 2011, Journey Church International officially launched at Summit Lakes Middle School.
