I know of some boards where you can get your certification without going through residency. this for example is the case in radiology. If you are an IMG you need to be certified in your country and have done 3 years of clinical training in the US. Some doctors get their 3 years by doing three fellowships in a row.
Has anyone heard if this is also possible in ortho?

I am a resident at pitt. Dr. Pape is the chief of our trauma service, he is very well respected and a very gifted surgeon and clinician. He did his training in Germany and somehow worked out a way to not have to go back through residency here in order to practice. I am sure our chairman Dr. Fu whom recruited him help facilitate this process. We have another russian attending Dr. Plakseychuk whom is also very talented, he was an attending in russia, but went back through as a resident here.
Agreed. This proves that FMGs CAN be excellent!!
