I go to med school in Texas and am considering ortho residency in the SE. Anyone have any experience with Emory or UVA? My girlfriend went to undergrad at Emory and really talks up Atlanta. I'm looking for info on quality of staff, teaching, hospital environment/facilities, and location. 'Preciate the help.

Rumor is (and this is rumor) that, at least for Emory, you have to have some ridiculous numbers to be interviewed as they only invite 35 or so folks. They rank more than 35 folks because of rotaters and Emory medical students (who don't get an official interview). The chances of getting an interview are slim, and last year's PGY-1 class was all rotaters or Emory medical students. Sort of gives you an idea of what it takes...
