3rd year grades

3rd year grades are definitely important. Medicine is probably less important than your surgery grade but it's highly variable among program directors. Make sure you know why you got a pass and don't let it happen again.

i agree, ti's not the end of the world situation..it's the whole picture that counts.

it should be noted taht with honors in lots of things and a high step I, it still doesn't guarrentee (i still can't spell that word) matching...You have time to start somer esearch..so I would at the very least, get something going..in consideration of the fact that you don't have any pubs..

I only had a pass on my medicine rotation (I only scored a 2 on that shelf exam as it was my first rotation and I misjudged the difficulty of that test) I matched. I honored psych, surgery, ortho, FM, Neurology. Pass in OB/Gyne and peds. You will be fine. Do as well as you can the rest of the way. Make sure you honor surgery and Ortho, of course. Your board score is great and will be a big asset. Good luck!

I agree with most of what was said. the pass won't kill you as long as it's not the start of a trend

Also, I've talked with some program directors that like to see an increase in board scores from step 1 to step 2, so that might be something to keep in mind when timing/studying for cs. You should be able to improve on your step 1 score even though you have a high starting ground, but don't take it lightly

Get some research...or a case report (easy) or something..
