I know that ortho is extremely competitive. And I would really like to know what additional steps need to be taken for a Caribbean med school student to get into ortho. I have an overall GPA of 3.8, Step I in 260's and hopefully step II will be just as high. I don't see myself doing anything else but ortho surgery. Please share any advice you have. thank you very much

Step #1: Try to transfer to a US school, even if you have to repeat years it will be worth it.
Step #2: If you can't transfer, figure out which programs are IMG friendly and try to rotate there.
Step #3: Make sure you are involved in some research and max out every aspect of your application.
Step #4: Apply broadly and pray.

I was able to transfer to a lesser known US school, Step 1 254, GPA 3.8. Still didn't match last year. Trying again this year. Not trying to discourage you but this is reality.
