just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the rumor that if you have never left the west coast, you should do at least one away on the east coast to maximize interview offers and show that you are willing to leave...

I agree, just make sure you do the rotation early enough to get a letter. Otherwise, no one will know you rotated there when looking at your app.

true statement...regionalism is high. Chicago is notorious for mainly interviewing rotators, but I think it'd definitely help you get more interviews if you did an away at an east coast school and then got a letter of rec from someone around there.
