Most of the interviews I go to last about 5 hours (ie 8-1pm). Unfortunately, many programs tell interviewees that 'interviews typically last the duration of the day and end by 5pm'. I have an interview on the west coast followed by a 7am interview on the east coast. I wanted to book a flight that left around 4pm from the west coast so I could at the very least arrive at a decent hour and take a shower.

How does everyone deal with this? The west coast interview is Stanford and it is at the top of my list- I don't want to rush out of there.

stanford's interviews end in the early afternoon.

They're also forgiving about that stuff.

the interview day starts off with breakfast and a lecture on the different clinical sites by the respective faculty. You then do the tour/interview combo. The day ends with lunch..

At least, that's the way they did it last year.
