We are offering a volunteer/unpaid orthopedic research fellowship for the 2026-2027 academic year, with a primary focus on orthopedic spine surgery, as well as exposure to joint, and sports medicine. This fellowship, running from spring or summer 2026 through summer 2027, offers a unique opportunity to combine research, clinical experience, and scribe opportunities several days per week. Depending on availability, fellows may also have the chance to participate in operating room activities. While malpractice insurance is a plus, it is not required. This position is ideal for U.S. medical students (or exceptionally qualified international graduates) taking a gap year or those who did not match this year and are looking to enhance their applications.
While the fellowship itself is research-focused, the mentors for this position are faculty members of the Guthrie orthopedic surgery residency program, providing valuable networking and mentorship opportunities.
