Grand Rapids:solid community program. Lots of OR time early. Lots of attendings, see things many different ways. No tumor. LOTS of trauma, 3 hospitals, 1 is level 1 and when on call u are in ED all day (no operating), 2 other hospitals much less ED and home call. They take 4 residents per year.

Any more ?s PM or post.

I rotated at LIJ, and I was very impressed by the program. They have 2 main hospitals -- LIJ is mainly community, lots of ambulatory cases; North Shore is the trauma center. The residents operate a lot, get to do a lot, and are very competent. The chairman is a well-known sports guy, so the senior residents are proficient is shoulder scopes and replacements by the time of graduation. They also see a lot of joints, spine, hand. A great program with a great group of residents that are genuinely very happy with their choice.
