I recently learned that one of the externships that I applied for was full for the dates that I set aside. I was wondering if any one knew of any externships that had a quick turn over time as far as processing applications. So far it has taken about 5-6 weeks for most programs to reply and I only have 5 weeks to get this squared away.

Programs with housing options would be a plus.

atlanta medical center may be a good option. I am a 3rd year, we do not have a whole lot of red tape/paperwork to deal with to rotate with us. PM me if you are interested

Akron General Medical Center is a consideration as well. We provide free housing at the Radisson for our rotators and your meals are paid for as well. PM me with questions.

Not sure about the housing situation, but we can have you rotate at LIJ in New York.

3rd year has gone to his head!

We are very glad to have rotators, but our application process is not a breeze. Its not difficult, but you cant expect to call and just show up for your rotation. Atlanta Medical is based out of a Tenet Hospital facility. They have imposed some forms that you need to fill out first:

-2 Letters of Rec, transcript, some other forms....

We are glad to have rotators, do not abuse med students, are in a pretty cool city to come and visit, and get very good training. The relationship between residents here and med students is a reciprical one. Put some effort into it, and we'll do the same. Thats good advice for any program you are rotating with.

i am a pgy 5 in fort wayne. i think the process is fairly brisk for an away with us as well. Have never heard of a problem anyway. we (i believe) put you up in a furnished apartment for the month. also free meals.

we are very benign and most have a good time when they rotate here (assuming they put forth some effort and show some interest)...again no different than any other away rotation.

PM me if interested.
