Hi all,
I picked up a "sloppy seconds" via a cancellation. So now - if you had to pick two out of the three for the infamous Jan 10th/11th dates:

KU - Wichita (10th or 11th)
Nebraska (11th ONLY)
Wright State - Dayton (10th or 11th)

Any advice? Thanks!

One of the first year residents at my school absolutely loved Nebraska and ranked it No. 1 (and didn't get it obviously). That's all I know... sorry, no specifics on the program.

Nebraska is the best program and most highly regarded of the three. I would definitely go there.

The others I don't know anything about.

i interviewed at wichita and wright state (but not nebraska). Both are good community programs. I ranked wichita higher for geographic regions (i am originally from souther missouri) but i thought the dayton program was good too. One thing to keep in mind is that wichita has 4 spots, while dayton only has two. When i was there in dayton they had a pretty nice new hospital with a gym, raquetball, and basketball courts for the residents to use. They also were getting considerably busier b/c another hospital in the area had just shut down, leaveing miami valley hospital (in dayton) as the only level 1 in the area. The ER there has close to 100 rooms!

Not everyone can be a selective as BigBone, so I wouldn't go cancelling all three. I think logistically, your best bet would be hit Nebraska and Wichita. You could make the drive from Wichita to Omaha in ab out 5 hours. You are stuck with a flight, or an 10-11 hour drive between either and Dayton.

Try making your travel arrangements first. Sometimes the decision will make itself out of sheer physical impossibility getting to one place or another.

I don't know about you, but I'm trying to avoid making as many decisions as possible. I'd rather leave it up to Lady Luck.

NONE OF THE ABOVE- I'd rather be a primary care physician than live in that area of the country.
