Everyone is a little uptight this time of year and everyone has heard stories of what the ideals are: when apps turned in, what letters to send, when to do aways, grades, boards. Most of the programs deadlines are in November, I wouldn't worry too much about an Oct 1st submission. Some things, ie. your personal things, are out of your control and there is enough pressure just to match to worry about if you have the perceived ideals in every catagory. Good luck
