What are some good questions to ask on the interview trail to really get a feel for what a program is like? Can anyone give some opinions on what they consider important characteristics of a good program?

I always liked to ask what they thought their weaknesses were, or what they could improve upon. That stirs up some conversation

another i way to ask that is if there is anything you would change about your program, what would it be? a nicer way of asking about weaknesses

another good question to ask is what is the ratio of attendings to residents+fellows--you can get an idea of how much opportunity there really is to operate

what percentage of your residents do fellowship? how many go into private practice right out of residency?
