early deadlines and LORS

yeah, other problem is the chair's letter. most won't write it till late october. guess the early deadline poeple will have to take what the get..or not. )

A tip for those asking for letters right about now...just explain to the attending kindly when you ask that apps are due soon. I did this with an attending during an AI and had a letter a week later (because they have to fill out an eval on you anyway so it's easy enough to dictate a LOR)

Some programs also want to see a transcript before their deadline. The only specific one I can think of right now is Wake Forest, but I know I saw a few others when I was researching programs. At my school the official transcript goes out with the Dean's Letter on Nov 1. (I don't know if this is a school policy or an ERAS policy.) So, I just had the office attach an unofficial transcript to one of my LORs.

As for letter writers, all I can say is keep reminding them. It can be very difficult to do, but attendings are very busy people and are probably writing several letters. I just got my last letter in, and it was from a rotation I did in April.

It is my understanding that most programs will only accept transcripts and dean's letters after their posted deadlines. This means you probably need to contact your letter writers and give them a friendly reminder of early deadlines. I think (??) that some of the programs will still accept the additional LOR forms, but I could be wrong about that.
