Two fellows each year participate in advanced training in Sports Medicine. The fellows have the benefit of practicing in both an academic and private practice setting during the year. The fellowship is designed as a mentorship model.  We strive for this to be a lifetime relationship so our fellows are always part of our program and will be comfortable calling us at any time during their careers. We offer a diverse experience in clinical and research opportunities for our fellows. For example, the fellows will have the opportunity to directly care for athletes at the Division I and II collegiate levels. The fellows will be involved in multiligamentous knee reconstruction, meniscal transplantation, ACL reconstruction, elbow arthroscopy, UCL reconstruction, articular cartilage/joint preservation, open shoulder instability, shoulder arthroplasty (total and reverse), and hip arthroscopy procedures. The faculty is diverse, consisting of fellowship-trained sports medicine, shoulder and elbow, and traumatology specialists providing the mentoring and oversight to prepare each fellow for his/her career as an orthopaedic sports surgeon. The fellows will be a part of a multidisciplinary team collaborating with specially trained physicians, nurses, therapists, technicians, and social workers with the capability of providing total orthopaedic care to the patient. Finally, a complete research team is available to the fellows, including the Thompson Laboratory for Regenerative Orthopaedics, to provide world-class opportunities in research.

We have a video that describes details of our sports medicine fellowship, as well as life in Columbia, Missouri.
