During one of my Ortho rotations, I met a University of Rochester alumni (Orner) who advised me that it is an extremely malignant program where a resident was previously kicked out of the program after completing 3 years. Also, residents in the program are constantly overworked and female residents are depressed. She went into details about how the current chairman is incapable of managing the program and preventing resident abuse. She even mentioned that one of the trauma attendings abuses and bullies residents and was being investigated by the ACGME/hospital administration. Recent medical school rotators at this program have confirmed the above info. I was surprised to learn these facts, but I just wanted to share what I have heard from a previous female resident so it helps medical students with sub-internships and making a decision about residency programs.
