The New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center orthopaedic surgery residency program is five years in duration and fully accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education. There are three postgraduate level 1 positions available each year. The residents in this program receive comprehensive training with exposure to every subspecialty within the field of orthopaedic surgery. The faculty is composed of fellowship-trained, well-published orthopaedic surgeons who actively participate in teaching. There is a large volume of cases which ensures that residents receive early and extensive operative experience. As the only Level 1 trauma center between Albany and New York City, Westchester Medical Center treats a wide variety of injuries. There are four physician assistants, two nurse practitioners, and a casting technician who assist in patient care. Nearly all of the residents pursue fellowships and successfully match at prestigious institutions throughout the country in all of the subspecialties. This is a reflection of the depth and quality of education provided by this residency program. Our goal is to produce orthopedic surgeons who will excel in any setting whether it is a busy trauma center or community hospital and contribute to the advancement of the field.
