He is one of three fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons at the level 1 trauma center, which is based on the campus of Baylor University Medical Center, and his clinical interests include complex articular joint fracture and joint revision surgery. He holds memberships with Orthopaedic Trauma Association, Texas Medical Association and Dallas County Medical Society.
Dr. Cates earned his medical degree at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He went on to complete residency training at Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Charlotte, N.C.
