Updated

The UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is accepting applications for out-of-match spine fellowship positions for AY 2026–27 and AY 2027–28.

The program offers two one-year spine fellowship positions. One position is filled through the SF Match and is currently filled through 2028. The available out-of-match position is equivalent to the clinical fellowship position offered through the SF Match.

Fellows receive broad clinical and operative exposure to the full spectrum of spine pathology, including trauma, deformity, revision surgery, tumors, and complex degenerative conditions.

Fellows work closely with the Program Director, Dr. Sakthi Rajaram, as well as Dr. Luke Hiatt and the Department Chair, Dr. Steven Theiss.

Eligibility requirements:

Applicants must have passed all three steps of the USMLE and must be eligible for an Alabama medical license.

Visa considerations: candidates who are already on an H-1B visa and candidates eligible for a J-1 visa will be considered. At this time, we are not able to sponsor new H-1B visas.

Interested candidates should contact the Program Director:
