Position Title: Clinical Research Fellow
Duration: 1 year
Who: US medical students between M3/M4 or after M4 interested in Orthopedic Surgery. Only USA students will be considered.
Where: Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center, Division of Sports Medicine, Chicago, IL.
When: There are 2 on campus start dates; June 14th or July 5th
Salary: A monthly stipend is provided

Dr. Nikhil Verma, Rush's Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship, and Dr. Jorge Chahla together invite interested parties to submit an application for a clinical research fellowship at Rush University. Our team provides the unique opportunity to work for two leaders in orthopedic sports medicine, both of whom are seeking forward-thinking, self-driven students to advance their interests in orthopedic medicine by working in a fast-paced clinical research lab determined to produce high quality, novel research.


Current Areas of Active Research
- Return to Sport and Return to Play
- Biological Therapies (BMAC, PRP, amniotic products, etc)
- Patient Reported Outcomes
- Database Studies: Health Claims and National Registry Databases
- Procedure-Specific Outcomes and Complications
- Biomechanical Studies pertaining to the shoulder/knee
- Trends in Surgical Management

Specific Prerequisites and Characteristics We Look For:

  • Strong motivation for a career in orthopaedic surgery, with proven research interest
  • Strong academic record
  • Strong work ethic
  • Organized, detail-oriented, proactive and a self-starter
  • Strong interest in conducting biomechanical studies, coordinating randomized trials and conducting database research
  • Desire to become proficient in data analysis and utilize statistical principles

  • Dr. Verma expects all applicants to be able to match into Orthopedic Surgery and will help the candidate during the match process

 

There is a mandatory onboarding training (virtual and in person) June 14-June 25 for all starting CRAs
