Orthopaedic Surgery Research Fellowship Opportunity at University Hospitals Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH

UPDATE: POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED

The Sports Medicine Institute at University Hospitals is now accepting applications from qualified individuals for a one-year, paid full time clinical research fellowship position in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery for June 2021-June 2022.  During the year, the Research Fellow will have the opportunity to coordinate and participate in the management of multiple clinical trials, maintenance of the IRB approval process, grant writing as well as the initiation and completion of manuscripts within the Sports Institute.  Basic Science studies are available for interested applicants. Fellows will work directly with Drs. Voos, Salata, Gillespie and Karns, as well as the orthopaedic surgery residents and other staff on select projects.

Benefits of the fellowship include 3 weeks of vacation in addition to funding for travel to the AAOS and subspecialty meetings.  The fellow will also be supported to present accepted research at additional meetings. This unique fellowship provides the opportunity to gain significant experience in sports medicine research and strengthen an application to an orthopaedic residency program. There are no call or clinical responsibilities, although the fellow has ample opportunity to integrate into the clinical setting. Fellows can expect to publish multiple manuscripts, present at national meetings and make valuable connections.

The UH Sports Medicine Institute serves as the Team Physician’s for the Cleveland Browns, Lake Erie Monsters, Cleveland Marathon, Cleveland Triathlon, 6 colleges and nearly 50 high schools.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and an interest in orthopaedic clinical research. Interested applicants should send their CV and a letter of interest (200 words or less) via email to Dr. Jacob Calcei (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and Lisa Piazza, Operations Manager of the Sports Medicine Institute at University Hospitals (This email address is being protected from spambots.
