University of Missouri Orthopaedic Adult Reconstruction Fellowship 2016 and 2017
HotThe Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri invites applications to our Adult Reconstruction and Joint Preservation Fellowship program.
The department’s adult reconstruction team consists of 5 fellowship-trained surgeons. Approximately 1,300 primary joint arthroplasty and 250 revision joint arthroplasty cases are performed each year at the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute or University Hospital.
Our comprehensive program for the care of patients with arthritic and post-traumatic conditions affecting the hip and knee includes a multidisciplinary team approach collaborating in the provision of high- quality patient care from the outpatient clinic through the episode of surgical treatment and the postoperative rehabilitation.
The adult reconstruction fellowship curriculum includes traditional approaches for primary and revision total knee and total hip arthroplasty surgery, and offers fellows exposure to anterior incision total hip arthroplasty, mobile bearing unicompartmental arthroplasty, hip arthroscopy, periacetabular ostetotomy, and other joint preservation procedures.
Fellows are given the opportunity to work in the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute (MOI), the largest freestanding and most comprehensive orthopaedic surgery center in the region. MOI is home to more than 25 orthopaedic surgeons. With clinics, operating rooms and private overnight patient rooms, along with some of the most progressive technology available, we are able to provide comprehensive orthopaedic care in one location.
Columbia, home of the University of Missouri, was listed in the book 50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family and has been consistently recognized by national magazines such as Consumer’s Digest and Money as one of the top places to live in the U.S. Most people who choose to reside in this college town of more than 110,000 residents think of it as having the best of both worlds – small-town convenience and warmth with big-city sophistication and amenities. With a remarkably low cost of living compared to many U.S. cities, Columbia allows for a lifestyle hard to find in other areas.
