Medical School Reputation in Match Outcome

I find that hard to believe as well. I'm sure that at a number of the programs, it didn't come into play, and I just wasn't a 'match' for them. But, you're also forgetting that it's not a rule-in/rule-out process, it's a ranking process. To not match at a place, it (feasibly) only takes a one spot shift to not match. It wasn't that you weren't good enough for the program, or they didn't like you, they just liked someone better for some reason...

I just perused the article, but from what I gather these guys found that the only thing that correlated with a "successful" resident was the OITE score and the only thing that correlated with a higher OITE score was the med school's US News rank and Step scores.

Hrm, I was looking at this, and I don't believe that they did a multiple regression on this stat.. Therefor, I believe you are correct in your isolation comment. Nevertheless, another point in favor of the 'medical school matters'..haha I wish, personally, it didn't, but that's the way it goes...
