Can anyone in the know give me some information concerning this program's intern year. I don't remember hearing much at the interview other than currently four do a conventional transitional year (with ortho), and four do what sounds alot like a true general surgery internship, or something like that.

Intern year,

4 spend the year at the university med center (gen surg, ortho, icu, radiology...)

The other 4 spend the year at a private hospital that is university affiliated (gen surg, ortho, plastics, neuro, e.r.).

There are pros and cons to each and thus makes it difficult to compare the two. Either way, you get good training.

Assignments are random (you can't pick and choose).

Hope this helps. Good luck in the match.
