Hey orthochic08 was this message the one you got from Illinois?

"Thank you for your interest in our orthopaedic program. Your application is quite impressive, but because of a number of applicants and the limited positions offered we will not be able to extend to you an invitation for interview at this time. If an interview opportunity should become available we will contact you."

Is that a rejection or a wait list??

I also got rejected by Carolinas Medical Center today, but there was no mention of not meeting requirements. They just didn't want me! Boo hoo!

Rejected by Carolinas Medical Center... "your application has not been approved due to not meeting the necessary criteria in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery."

They neither told what criteria they had nor told which criteria I did not meet.

Rejections: UK, OSU, Summa Akron, Carolinas, UNC, Wake Forest, University of Chicago

"Of the 278 applicant files, only 50 interviews were granted for our three interview days. The committee evaluated files based upon USMLE scores (ranged from 266 to 184), academics, research, leadership abilities, awards, community service, and recommendation letters. The pool of candidates were very competitive and it was a difficult decision for our committee members. There were 41 applications from foreign medical graduates and 237 from the United States--36 different states."

A lot of programs tell you how many applications they received, but this was above and beyond.
