Last year I was one of IU's "second-tier" and ended up with the "you are ranked to match here" letter. If you get the nod, even after someone declines, you are still on even ground at most places.

Got a big stiff arm from Indiana U over snail mail today that read something like this: "we've given out all the interviews to people we really want, but for some odd reason if they are too good for us and cancel their interview you can come for an interview with 'second-tier applicant' written on your forehead" ...eeep

The Dean's Letter cannot actually be retreived by programs until Nov. 1 even though it is theoretically sitting in the Post Office.

By the way-

Re the Dean's letter...on ERAS in the ADTS part for programs applied to it says:

Deans Letter 10-24-2002 06:34 PM Available, but not yet retrieved by Program

I didn't think the dean's letter was going out until Nov 1? Anyone else have this message?

BigPiece,

Don't know about being "wait listed"....I got the "thanks for applying- but don't call us, we'll call you" from Med College of Ohio.

I was hoping to get a few invites before the rejection letters/emails started coming in.

Tums anyone?

Are all of these invites via e-mail? If so, are any of you using hotmail accounts that got invites? I'm paranoid as @$%& that even with the filter off things will get messed up.

Thanks for the info ortho2003. Congratulations on the invites. MCO? Any chance you can give a nimrod like myself the long version to the abreviation? Also must say that checking this post is like masochism. I feel like I gotta check it and it's the first thing I do when I get free time, but hurts like a son-of-pup every time I see a program I applied to but haven't heard from. Oh well, party on Wayne. "I'm gonna catch on with a team, and when I do..." ):)

Bigpiece, I just received and interview to MCO without a completed application as well, so I dont think it is a requirement for all programs. Good luck.

I only have two letters in right now, but Akron still offered me an interview. Needless to say, I was pretty surprised to get an offer without a complete app. Man I hope that third writer gets on his horse soon.

Anybody get the Heisman from the above programs? There is a fellow rotator who has been shot down by Akron. I haven't heard a word but then I only have 2 LoR's in until today. Do most programs wait until you are basically complete and then decide or can you be strung along like you're on the waiting list?
