My 1st interview wasn't til Dec 7. I know a few people that had the last friday in November, but not many. Most places when they offer you an interview give you a list of dates and you give them your preference.
I think November is a great time to do an away as long as you don't expect a letter-obviously it will be past the deadline. But you will be fresh in everyone's mind as they begin to make interview offers at that program.
