New user, love the site!!!

I just started third year and I have been slowly gaining interest in ortho. I know most of you have known you wanted ortho from Day 1, but I still am not 100% which, I hear puts me slightly behind the 8-ball. I have mostly honors in pre-clin and a highly competitve Step 1. I am at an east coast med school with no high preference on where I want to go. Besides working hard on 3rd year, what prelim steps should I be taking? I read about 4th year electives.

youre not behind any ball, dude, don't worry. just relax and try hard third year (the flex exams are important for your grade usually so study some), and try to get to know some more stuff about ortho - if you know youre interested research may be a good idea; it'll get you an 'in' and a contact in the department. try to get honors in surg and medicine (and whatever else you can). if you get any electives third year maybe try to do an ortho. good you did well on step1, try and get some honors and you'll be golden. by the way, if you're still undecided...choose ortho cause were damn sexy. yeah baby, yeah! ):)
