Too late to switch ??? Help!!!

First of all, I don't really think it's too late until you've sent in your ERAS and it's past the application deadlines. Most of the programs have deadlines in mid/late october and some are Nov 1st. I would first carefully evaluate whether you enjoy g-surg or ortho more. Maybe talk to your ortho chairman/program director. Secondly, judge how competitive you are for ortho. Most people recommend having Step 1 of >220s at least and excellent grades esp. in surgery and medicine. Many people match w/o doing aways so I don't think that's going to hurt you. maybe you can call some of your g-surg aways and try to change them to ortho even though it'll be after apps are due just so you can see the program.
