HI all,

just wanted to see what everyone was doing regarding thank you notes after interviews. Are people mailing little cards, hand written letters, emails? UIC mentioned at the end of the day that all interviewers email addresses were on the website, so they are getting emails from me.

Good luck all.

Do not bother with thank you notes. The attendings will glance at them if you are lucky and then toss them in the garbage. Some programs specifically ask that you not send any thank you notes. They are busy enough and these notes just clog up their e-mail/mailboxes.

that was originally my opinion as well, but several people on the trail felt that it was a bad idea not to send them. I heard rumors of residents at some programs (duke) stating that you needed to call the chariman. Don't know the validity of this, however. Anyone else's take on thankyou notes.

I know I was asked on one of my interviews to let them know my thoughts on the program through a thank you note to sorta let them know where they stand. I certainly don't think it is a bad idea.

Yeah, all of the places I have interviewed at said they welcomed thank-you letters, and one even gave us the address to send them. Look at it like this: it definately won't hurt to send them, but it may hurt not to send them.

Every place I've been to so far has given a list of interviewers along with their mailing addresses. I can't imagine they'd look negatively upon one.
