Is this information available? IE. the number of operations logged in for graduating residents for each program.

During the past few years all ortho residents must log their cases onto the ACGME website. The info can be broken down into number and type of cases/procedures. Only residents and programs have access to this information, so the only way you would find out is to ask on interview day

yeah, that is a valid question to ask on interview day. I think the national average is aorun 1200-1300. I am unsure if this is the number of CASES or procedures. For example they are logged using the cpt codes that are used for billing. In one case you may have mutiple procedures (ie multi-trauma, spine, etc) so that one OR case will have , ohh say 2-4 cpt codes (ORIF, application of splint). I am unsure if it counts all the CPT codes or the cases.

The Case Log system is very nice. It precludes you from having to carry around a bunch of stickers with patient cases on it. The system has all of the CPT codes in it so you basically click the CPTs you want. It records BOTH number of cases and CPT codes and you can get all kinds of reports to see how many spines, flaps, femurs, how many cases you did with a certain attending, etc. just finishing my PGY-3 year most of us have 700-800 cases and ~1000 cpt codes
