hey guys, i finally finished this damn ps - it like 1 page and 1/4 when i print it from eras (805 words), do I have to cut this down to less than 1 page, or is it ok. I am just tired of this stupid thing, and don't feel like editing it. I want to send it and be done with it. thanks

i could be mistaken, but i believe that there is a 750 word max for ERAS.

also, most programs specifically request a PS of <1 page.

looks like you should get back to editing

I was told specifically to keep it under 1 page by faculty at my home program.
I nearly crapped my pants when I read the post about <750. So I checked. I am at 724. whew!
I would make sure that you follow the recommendations if you want to sleep at night.

there is no limit to the length of the personal statement. it could be 10 pages if you wanted it to be. ERAS does not limit you to 750 words or less. the one page limit is cited because there aren't too many folks that want to spend more than a few minutes reading a personal statement. this is probably because 1)they are busy reading through so many of these things, and 2) they are busy with things other than reviewing applications.

so i don't really think you need to worry if your personal statement is 4 or 5 lines longer than the "suggested" one page.

Short and sweet is the rule. The PS is usually just gazed upon during the interview. So the shorter it is, the more likely it will get read and generate interview conversation.
