The Division of Shoulder & Elbow invites third and fourth-year medical students or medical school graduates to apply for a two-year clinical research fellowship position in Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow.

A two-year minimum commitment is required***

This is a wonderful opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to strengthen their application for the Orthopaedic Residency Match. The research fellow will be expected to work on numerous projects with several investigators; therefore, excellent organizational and communication skills are paramount.

Responsibilities and daily activities include: learning how to develop a research hypothesis and to conduct a review of the literature; composing a research protocol; Institutional Review Board applications; opportunities for patient interaction; opportunities to be mentored in a hospital clinic and research setting; learning and/or honing clinical examination skills; opportunities to observe surgeries in the OR; opportunities to observe/practice surgical technique in the Hospital for Joint Diseases Surgical Skills Lab; collecting, organizing and analyzing clinical research data; preparing the results for submission for academic publication and presentation to peers.

In addition, the student will have the opportunity to audit courses related to clinical research duties and data analysis skills at the NYU School of Medicine.
