How much of a problem is it if I can't take neuro before step 2? what's the best way to prepare for the neuro portion of the test in that situation? I have heard it's a small part of the test - anyone have experience different from that?

i did not take neuro before step 2, and i don't think it matters at all (245, from 248 on step 1). there are small but thorough neuro reviews (mostly locate the lesion in a stroke patient, etc) in all the review books. we have shelf exams (NBME-written tests) at the ends of our third year rotations, and the psych test is combined with neuro (again, with only the basics). and i haven't heard otherwise from any of my classmates in their experiences.

good luck
