Well, since all the interns seem to be posting on this area instead of the residents area, I'll post this here. Just wondering where some of the people that I met on the trail last year ended up matching? My name is Jon Shook, from Indiana University. I know I met a lot of you out there, and I don't remember all of your names, so I'm sure a lot of you won't remember me.
Just wondering how everyones' year is going. I'm at Loyola in Chicago and I'm really happy with my choice. My first 2 months were pretty painful: Trauma SICU and Vascular Surgery. But now I'm on Ortho Trauma and I am seeing a light (although dim) at the end of the tunnel. I've rodded a couple of femurs, plated a few ankles, taken out lots of hardware, and done a lot of incisions and closures. Pretty good exposure thus far.
I go to the ER next month, which is pretty sweet here. You're required to work 15, ten hour shifts for the month. I'm basically stacking may days in the beginning of the month and then taking the last couple weeks of Oct off.
Chicago is awesome (when I get time to go out) during the summer. I'm fearing the winter though! Oh-well, I'll be inside all day anyway.
Post a few lines on the site when you get a chance.

Lates,
Jon

J Shook,

What's up brother. How's the bench press to step one ratio holding up?

I haven't even touched a weight since we started. I'm gonna start officially next month when I start radiology. I started off the year on Ortho. It was awesome. I had a lot of fun. I'm on trauma right now. . .not so much fun. but it's cool. My girlfriend's moving from chicago to cleveland (you met her at the loyola interview dinner the night before), I'm looking for wedding rings. Life is good. I'll actually be in Chicago for a week during the 1st week of Oct (1st-7th). We're gonna hang out that week and then we're going to move her back to cleveland. Good to here that things are going well for you. keep in touch. ldf@po.cwru.edu

Bone jock, don't know you but appreciate all your posts. Just wanted to wish you good luck with the ring thing. i just got engaged and its awesome. Getting married about 2 months before internship will start so a little shaky there, but still psyched.
