I was wondering if anyone could recommend any classic ortho review articles that are good to read before starting externships. I found a great recent review of Hip Fracture by Drs. Koval & Zuckerman in NEJM (forgot the exact issue but the article is in my locker at school...will post it tomorrow). Also, I've found some excellent ortho topics explained along with sample case studies + radiology on .

At the risk of providing unsolicited advice, I would recommend that you brush up on your anatomy as 90%+ of the "pimp" questions you will get will be basic anatomy. You're not really expected to know very much ortho on a sub I and a lot of "ortho" reading would probably be low yield. Check out a copy of Hoppenfeld from the library a read about common surgical approaches. Also, if you have some spare time, read about wrist, forearm, and wrist fractures in one of the pocket fracture handbooks - I recommend either Koval/Zuckerman or Perry/Elstrom.
