full-time, in-person, one-year Medical Student Research Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics. This immersive program is an exceptional opportunity to strengthen an orthopedic residency application while developing meaningful research skills in a high-volume pediatric academic center.
About the FellowshipFellows will join the
Clinical Research Team in the Department of Orthopedics at Nationwide Children’s, one of the largest and most comprehensive pediatric institutions in the country. This role offers unparalleled exposure to clinical research, pediatric musculoskeletal pathology, and collaboration with attending surgeons, residents, and clinical research staff. The position is under the mentorship of
Sean Tabaie, MD, MBA, FAAOS, FAOA (Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon & Director, Neuro-Orthopedics Program) and
Kirsten Tulchin‑Francis, PhD (Director, Orthopedic Research).
As a Research Fellow, you will:
- Work directly with pediatric orthopedic surgeons and the clinical research team
- Participate in study design, project development, and both literature and systematic reviews
- Assist with data collection, data entry, and statistical analysis
- Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for submission to regional and national orthopedic meetings
- Gain hands-on exposure through:
- Resident didactic sessions
- Skills labs
- Weekly shadowing opportunities in clinic and the operating room
Fellows typically complete multiple manuscript and abstract submissions over the course of the fellowship. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
