The
Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Morristown Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated Medical Student for a Clinical Research Associate
- research fellowship designed to significantly strengthen applications to competitive
- orthopedic surgery residency programs.
This fellowship emphasizes high-impact academic productivity, close mentorship, and national exposure within a focused academic environment.
Mentorship & Leadership ExposureThe fellow will work directly with the Chair of Orthopedic Surgery, Harpal Khanuja, MD, with a primary focus on hip and knee arthroplasty research. This structure provides exceptional access to mentorship, career guidance, and potential for strong letters of recommendation from department leadership.
Research ExperienceThe fellow will be involved in all phases of research, including:
- Study design and hypothesis development
- Literature review and database research
- Data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation
- Manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals
- Abstract submission and preparation for regional and national meetings
The expectation is meaningful authorship and presentation, not observational research.
Academic & Clinical IntegrationIn addition to research responsibilities, the fellow will:
- Participate in orthopedic resident didactics
- Work closely with residents and faculty
- Observe in orthopedic clinics and operating rooms

Qualifications:Required:
- Currently enrolled medical student
- Must have completed 2nd year of Medical School

- Prior research experience (clinical, outcomes, or basic science)
