hi all! My wife is a 3rd year med student at a Boston school (not Harvard) contemplating orthopedics. Her school is pass/fail/honors, and she's received a mix of passes and honors. No AOA, and Step I was admittedly low - about 210. However she can get strong letters of recommendation as she tends to perform very well during rotations and will certainly do so during a sub-I.
My question - is matching at an ortho residency in a major metro area out of the question given the low boards and no AOA? Given that ortho is 93% male, do programs actively recruit women to the point of excusing Step I scores less than 220?
