The different types of Joint Replacement treatments available under Orthopedic care

Joint pain can significantly impact your mobility and quality of life. Fortunately, orthopedic care offers a range of advanced joint replacement procedures to restore function and alleviate pain.

 In Orthopedics, we believe that surgery can be an effective option, but needs to be agreed upon by the physician and patient after other treatments haven’t helped. If the physician and patient agree on surgery, we provide innovative, minimally-invasive treatments for total joint replacements. These treatments typically allow for faster recovery, less pain, and in some cases minimal bone loss.

Here's an overview of the different types of Joint replacement treatments available:

Total Hip Replacement: This is one of the most common and successful joint replacement surgeries. The damaged ball (femoral head) and socket (acetabulum) of the hip joint are replaced with artificial implants made of metal, ceramic, or plastic.

Total Knee Replacement: Similar to hip replacement, this surgery replaces the damaged surfaces of the knee joint – the cartilage and underlying bone – with artificial components. Total knee replacement can significantly improve knee function and reduce pain.

Shoulder Replacement: There are different types of shoulder replacements depending on the extent of damage. A full shoulder replacement involves replacing both the ball (humeral head) and the socket (glenoid) with implants. Partial replacements may focus on just the ball or the socket.

Elbow Replacement: While less common than hip or knee replacements, elbow replacements can be highly effective for treating severe arthritis or injuries in the elbow joint. During this surgery, the damaged parts of the elbow joint are replaced with artificial components.

Ankle Replacement: Ankle replacements can offer pain relief and improved mobility for individuals with severe ankle arthritis. This surgery involves replacing the damaged surfaces of the ankle joint with artificial implants.

Wrist Replacement: Wrist replacement surgery is typically performed for conditions like severe arthritis or injuries that significantly impair wrist function. During this procedure, the damaged parts of the wrist joint are replaced with artificial components.
