University of Iowa Sports Medicine Research Fellow, 2018-2019

Dr’s Brian Wolf, Robert Westermann and Kyle Duchman are seeking an ambitious medical student interested in pursuing a year-long research fellowship in Sports Medicine and Hip Preservation at the University of Iowa.

This fellowship is designed for medical students between their 3rd and 4th years who have a strong interest in research and a desire to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery. Students who have already graduated medical school may also apply.

Job Title: Clinical Research Fellow

Salary: Monthly Stipend Provided.

Mentor: Robert Westermann, MD

Location: University of Iowa Sports Medicine, Iowa City, IA

Dates: 1 year, June 1, 2018 through June1, 2019 (dates are flexible)

Duties of the research fellow will include:
Coordination of all research projects including both clinical and biomechanical/basic science projects
Statistical analysis of data
Submission of protocols to the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Drafting and assisting in the writing/editing of sports medicine/orthopedic surgery manuscripts, book chapters and textbooks

Prerequisites:
Motivated medical student dedicated to pursuing orthopaedic surgery
Research experience
Self-management and organizational skills
Strong writing skills
Strong academic record
