I'm thinking about rotating at UCSF and got offered a spot at San Francisco General. For people that are familiar with the program, is this as good as rotating at Parnassus? Is one site preferable to the other? I've heard good things about the program but I don't know too many inside details.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone could offer any additional insight into the different locations for UCSF, particularly the VA rotation. From an outside perspective, the VA sounds like a pretty good rotation, 4 days in the OR, and facetime with the PD. Can anyone speak to this?

Each site offers very different experience. Current residents have done sub-Is at all of them, so apparently no selection bias.

Tons of interaction with many residents which is a chance to shine. General/trauma Ortho at a county hospital, so a much different experience from Parnassus, which is more "traditional" academic practice.

good spot to rotate....lots of residents to get to know and work with. residents spend about 40% of their time each year there. busy services. lots of basic ortho and is good learning enviornment for students/residents. a couple (at least 2, but pretty sure 3/7) of the interns that matched this year rotated at sfgh. good luck w/ your rotations/application.
