Is it necessary to send out thank-you cards after your interviews? Does it benefit applicants if they do/don't? I have heard both ways.

You’re probably going to hear both ways here as well. In my opinion, it requires minimal effort and can potentially allow you to stand out from the other candidates. If you’re going to do it, I’d recommend investing in some decent stationary and hand writing your notes.
