RUSH Sports Medicine Research Fellowship 2018-2019

Dr. Brian Forsythe is seeking ambitious medical students who are interested in pursuing a year-long clinical research fellowship. Dr. Forsythe works with the world renowned Division of Sports Medicine of Rush University. This unique opportunity will allow the research fellow/s to work closely with residents, fellows, and faculty of Rush.

Position Title: Clinical Research Fellow
Positions: 2
Duration: 1 year
Where: Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL.
When: Beginning approx. June 2018
Salary: Monthly stipend

Duties of the research assistant include:
- Enrolling patients in prospective clinical trials
- Attending surgery days and collecting intra-operative data on a weekly basis
- Tracking study patients and collecting post-operative follow up data on clinic days
- Working with the research team on clinical and biomechanical projects
- Dissecting/testing of cadaveric specimens
- Statistical data analysis
- Drafting and assisting in the writing/editing of sports medicine/orthopedic surgery manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters

Specific prerequisites and characteristics of the assistant should include:
- Completion of M3 year by July 2018
- Strong motivation for a career in orthopaedic surgery
- Proven interest in research
- MUST be extremely organized
- MUST be able to work well with others
- MUST be able to self manage and work independently
- Strong academic record
- A Bachelor’s degree upon starting
- Consistent and reliable transportation is important as OR days are at RUSH surgical centers are down town Chicago, Oak Park, and Munster, IN.
