They are too afraid to do that now. Every rejection I got said something to the effect of "although we have many excellent candidates who apply, we are not able to offer every one an interview. Good luck blah blah blah..."

I would honestly just rather have an honest reject letter. I wouldn't be mad at all if the letter said that I didn't meet their application requirements.
