4 interviews

15 minutes each.

You meet with 3 faculty members and a chief resident.

For the most part it is pretty low key. No testing of knowledge. For the most part there will be no xrays, mri's, models or pimp sessions. I guarantee that this will be the most laid back interview that you have (it was for me). There's no need for the so-called "pressure" interview. By getting an interview here, we know that you have what it takes on paper, so now all we need to do is see if you're a normal person. So must of the attendings want to sell our program and get a sense of who you are as a person.

By the way, for all interested. There will be a friendly game of football (touch) in between our morning interview section and the evening social event. We've done this the past 4 years now and it's pretty well received. There is usually a good turnout from both residents and applicants. Not mandatory, just a little something to relax after a morning of interviewing. Bring some crappy, semi-warm clothing if you're planning on playing. I think the weather is gonna be 40-50's and dry on Saturday.

Any one else have questions, just let me know

Are significant others invited to the evening social event?

Not only are significant others allowed, they are encouraged. I think it's a great tool as an applicant to have your significant other there (wife, husband, girl/boyfriend, "escort"). That way the/she usually can stand back and watch your interaction with the residents. Sometimes the applicants get caught up in the moment and are blinded a little. A significant other can give an objective opinion of whether you actually "fit in" with residents from a certain program. Usually they're pretty accurate. They can also talk with the wives of some of the residents (who will also be there) and get the real deal on how the residency has impacted their relationships.

This is a good question to ask before the interview date because not all programs allowed significant others at the social event. Hope that helps.

MS9- care to eloborate on the love of the program? I'm supposed to go out there in Jan, and I'm curious to hear what it is about case that makes people so effusive with their praise. What's cleveland like?

I'd actually love to get people to write a little blurb about their interview experiences/impression of the program on this website. Even though such things are subjective, I think that it could be informative and helpful to those of us interviewing at these places later this winter (or maybe even in the following years). What do you all think?
