Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Research Intern Program

We’re excited to offer an exceptional 12‑month opportunity for highly motivated medical students to elevate their research and clinical experience before residency. You’ll work closely with distinguished faculty mentors on meaningful research within the department, gaining hands‑on involvement with innovative projects and peer reviewed publications. You’ll also observe real‑world clinical care, strengthen your knowledge through weekly resident conferences, and become part of an engaged, scholarly, clinical community.

Our program has a proven track record of success. Every participant to date has matched into residency, making this an excellent foundation toward your future medical career.

What to Expect
  • Gain hands‑on exposure to orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and clinical research workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary research team, that includes surgeons, statisticians, and medical editors.
  • Contribute to the writing, development, and management of clinical research studies.
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journal publication.
  • Develop and submit abstract and poster submissions for national conferences.
  • Opportunities for clinical experiences include clinical and surgical exposure, didactics, and immersion with residents, fellows, surgeons, and advanced practice professionals.
