First, I just want to say thanks to everyone who contributed to my last thread. The rank deadline is approaching and I've reached out to some residents of UCLA vs UCSD but I ma having a tough time with these two west coast programs and how to rank them.

UCSD - I know they have a mandated research year (at least for the new intern class), but I got the sense that the residents may not be extremely productive. Does anyone know about this? How is the sports, joints, and trauma training at UCSD? It seems as though they are lacking in sports faculty though I like that they do sports 3-4x in residency.

UCLA - their sports/joints are supposed to be strong, but the trauma experience seems really weak. Can anyone who rotated here or is familiar with the program comment on this? I'd like to be as well trained as possible.

Thank you guys again and I hope any contributions people make can help others in a similar boat since the reviews for these programs are a couple of years old.
