The Deformity Spine Group at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is seeking a motivated and qualified medical student or medical graduate for a year-long, full-time research internship starting as early as Mid-July 2025.This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to spinal deformity surgery and collaborate with world-renowned orthopedic spine surgeons, fellows, and residents at the nation’s top orthopedic hospital.What You’ll Gain
  • Deep understanding of complex spinal deformities and surgical interventions
  • Participation in 10+ abstract submissions to major national and international conferences
  • Opportunities to travel and present research findings at spine conferences
  • Involvement in manuscript writing and publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • First-hand experience in clinical observation in clinics and operating rooms
What You’ll Do
  • Develop and contribute to ongoing and new research topics in spinal deformity
  • Collect and manage clinical and imaging data
  • Perform statistical analysis (training provided if needed)
  • Assist in drafting abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Observe and assist with radiographic deformity measurements (experience a plus)
Who You Are
  • A current medical student or recent medical graduate
  • Strong interest in orthopedic surgery or spine surgery
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Experience with deformity radiographic measurement and/or data analysis/statistics is a plus but not required
